Im learning now to be a little more assertive and say no. A friend asks her to help him pick out at outfit for a date. You are entitled to just say "No". So the trick is to figure out how and when to say no. She feels too guilty to say no. The point about saying "No." is about assertiveness. My mom is busy, but she doesn't say no. It's such a small word but so difficult to use sometimes. It isn't about "burning" others. My roommate is busy studying for MCAT next weekend. I also love the airplane example and I believe in it. These are all very smooth ways to respectfully turn down a proposition. We seem to use this word so easily with our spouse and children but have a hard time saying it to other people.
