My Wicked, Wicked Ways: The Autobiography of Errol Flynn Errol Flynn

Flynn was in reality a complex figure though not always an admirable one. Firstly I read his autobiography “My Wicked, Wicked Ways”. Two things happened to make me interested in Errol Flynn. Robert Hughes described Marcus Clarke's For the Term of His Natural Life (1870) as “a vivid, trashy Grand Guignol” of convict history but how could it be anything other than a horror story? A quest to solve the mystery of his grandfather's violent death in Launceston in 1942, stepping into real and imagined happenings at Hobart's Beaumaris Zoo and his grandfather's recruitment of Tasmanian film star Errol Flynn for a plan to save the thylacine from extinction. For my second book I began reading My Wicked, Wicked Ways by Errol Flynn. In fact, he wanted the role because he knew his friend John Barrymore had played it in the 1926 silent . I had of His love life brought him considerable fame, three statutory rape trials, and a lasting memorial in the expression "In like Flynn". In his autobiography, My Wicked, Wicked Ways written just before his death in 1959 Flynn described his undying love for her and now she has admitted: “We were very attracted to each other and yes we did fall in love. Indeed the path that led the Tasmanian devil Errol Flynn to Hollywood, as told in his autobiography “My wicked, wicked ways”, reads like a real pirate story. Tonight's film, which is often overlooked next to Captain Blood or The Sea Hawk, has it all: beautiful Technicolor, gorgeous costumes, a dynamic film score, and a terrific cast with Errol Flynn in a role he was born to play.
